Math Tips – Elementary to High School

What are signs that a student is struggling is math? What can parents and teachers of elementary, middle, and high school students do to help? What kinds of accommodations are appropriate? What are some strategies for teaching the struggling math student?

Presenter: Daniel R. Vaccaro, M.Ed.
College Instructor, HS Math Teacher, Math Tutor, Teacher Specializing in Working with Students with Dyslexia / Dyscalculia

In addition to a Masters degree of Math Education, Vaccaro received specialized training from schools for dyslexia: The Schenck School in Atlanta and The Carol School in Boston. For the past 14 years, he has tutored students (ages 8 – adult) in math who have dyslexia/dyscalculia, and he currently teaches high school math at Pine Crest Academy. Prior to teaching at Pinecrest, he worked as a Math/Special Education Instructor at the Art Institute of Atlanta and Lanier Technical College. Vaccaro is known for his ability to make math make sense to struggling math students.

This DNF / IDA-GA / DDGA Outreach Event is free and open to the public. Please click here to register.  When you register, you will be given the opportunity to submit a question for the presenter.
